Responding to requests from local activism groups, I set up a Wordpress site to aggregate all the local activities and groups. The calendar aggregates events from facebook groups, local government calendars, and various other sources. I recruited a volunteer calendar editor, and set up public-facing forms for community members to submit events to the calendar and groups to the directory. Folks can also sign up to receive email and sms updates. Future plans include building out a twilio bot for sms functionality, and displaying dynamic information from facebook about group membership (building off the facebook analysis I had done earlier about group membership overlap).
